In the Summer of '09 I acquired, courtesy of my cousin, Rick McLain, a rusted out, non-running , 1950 Ford. Being a masochist at heart I thought it would be fun rebuild this lovely machine. The car reminds me of the very similar '49 2dr that my brother, Tom , had back in the mid fifties
The plan is to do the necessary body work, rebuild the chassis, replace and update the interior.
It will not be a restoration as it will have much newer driveline components.
Right now the car is sitting in my driveway covered with a tarp and snow. It is just a little too cold to be working on it right now. More importantly, cash is not in abundant supply.
This will be a joint project between my Son-in-law, Brandon, and I. Other help will be welcomed.
My next blog will not be so slow in coming.. When I figure out how I will post pictures.

Oh really?
This here blog thing is more difficult than it appeaars. It helps if you can think clearly and write coherently. Sometimes I wonder if I can do either..It takes a good bit of attention to write more than two or three sentences on a given topic. It also helps to have something worth while to say that might even be understood by the reader.
That being said... 5/16 of my family is travelling to CA as I write. I so much enjoy their presence that it puts me in a funk when they go away for awhile. Since I am sort of retired at the moment and my wife is still working that leaves me at home alone all day. This is not my favorite circumstance. I get energized being with people and my family in particular. I know that I will look even more forward to the time my wife gets home from her teaching job.. The travellers have only been gone a few hours...

Holiday Fun
Much to the chagrin of the rest of the family, my son, who, with his family, is visiting from CA, have been engaging in "discussions " of politics and religion. I realize these subjects are generally taboo, but we enjoy the interchange. We may even modify each others views from time to time. Part of the fun is watching the reactions of these also present.
I am sure the coming months awaiting the inaugeration of our new President will provide plenty of subject matter for us to talk about. I look forward to it.

What have I done
I never thought I would be a blogger, but here I am. I am being dragged, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century. I may even have a thought worth sharing from time to time.
